Leaders who have been with SR since the beginning

We are beginning our 4th year in the ScoutReach program and it is good that we take time to recognize the leaders who have been with us since the program began in November 2003.  Drac Peyton was our ScoutReach Director for our five first schools--LaSalle, Davis, Simon, Nalle, and HD Cooke. 

At LaSalle we had Lonnie Robinson as the leader and Leonard Massie as Principal.  Leonard continues as Principal and Lonnie is now serving as one of our ScoutReach Directors for his 3rd year.  Jessie Moore took over after Lonnie and continues to this day.

At Davis we had Bernard Terry as the leader and Yvonne Morse as Principal.  Yvonne has retired but continues to be active on our ScoutReach Committee as our Vice Chair for Quality Control.  Bernard moved to Tri-Community his second year and organized a ScoutReach program there and continues as their leader.  At Davis now we have Jerome Brown, Assistant Principal, who has recruited over 100 boys into the program and has meetings on Wednesday for the younger Scouts and Thursdays for the older Scouts.  Then on Fridays he takes the Scouts on hikes and field trips--see what you started Yvonne and Bernard!  And oh how Jerome has continued the program!  Florence Dorden began as a volunteer parent in the first year and has continued each year as the leader of First Rock Baptist Church's Pack.

At HD Cooke we have Robert Butler as the leader and Mr. Garza as the Principal.  Mr. Garza has retired but Robert has continued.  HD Cooke was our first school to organize a Pack and a Troop.  Now Robert serves as the Scoutmaster of the Troop and Barrington Brown serves as the Cubmaster.  Mr. Garza asked Cesar Carrion to coordinate the Pack and the Troop and Cesar has done a great job each year.

J C Nalle's Principal Tracy Wright asked Drac Peyton and John Maxwell to assist through the first year and they met weekly with each of the 4 Scouts and the Pack continued actively through the year.  Bert Hawkins then took over as leader and Wayne Fontaine succeeded Bert when he became a ScoutReach Director.

At Simon, Donald Ross has served as the leader since the first year.  Duane Ross was the Principal when the program was organized and he now serves as Principal in Montgomery County.

Ernie Green has been our Chair since the very beginning and Derrick Humphries has served faithfully on our ScoutReach committee since before we began the program in 2003.

We have said many times that ScoutReach has had no Turnover in Staff--that is during the school year.  Since teachers are promoted to other school and other leaders have moved from leader to ScoutReach Director, we have had changes but never during the school year.  This has maintained a real sense of continuity for the Scouts and the schools.
