Miner ElementarySchool PTA Cub Scout Pack 312

Meets on Saturday in the cafeteria at Noon

February 2007

Scouts at Miner began making their Pinewood Derby cars in anticipation of the big Derby Reach on March 24th.  Several parents assisted in helping the Scouts trace the design on their car so it can be cut out. 

    

November 2006

ScoutReach Participates in the 2006 Help The Homeless Walkathon

November 18, 2006 � ScoutReach joins Washington area residents to raise awareness, funds to prevent and end homelessness.  Scouts from Miner Elementary School. Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School in Prince George's County Public Schools, LaSalle Elementary School, and DC Village participated in the Walk.


WASHINGTON, D.C. � Thousands of walkers from the Washington metropolitan
area,including participants with NCAC-ScoutReach, converged on the National Mall
in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, November 18, for the 19th Annual Fannie Mae
Foundation Help the Homeless Walkathon. The annual Walkathon is the largest
event of its kind in the nation designed to help prevent and end
homelessness, and is a cornerstone of the Fannie Mae Foundation Help the Homeless Program.


The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts were sponsored by Juan Buenavides and the New
York Avenue Presbyterian Church. Rachel Mobley, a coordinator for the Church, was
amazed. �It is wonderful to see so many young men come out and show their
support for this special day�, Ms. Mobley.

October 2006

One of Pack 312's Cub Scouts participated in the Marine Corps Fun Run on October 28, 2006.  Below are pictures of the Scout and the race he ran:

  

January 29, 2005

Miner Elementary kicks off their new Cub Scout Pack with a Parents orientation and 20 boys  and 20 parents showed up!  What a great beginning to their Scouting program.  Each boy tried on a Cub Scout shirt to get his size correct and they all received  a Pinewood Derby car to be constructed this month and run in the District race on Feb 26th at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 621 Alabama Ave, SE.  The race begins at 8 AM with weigh-in.
