Check Out "Sock It To Me" Saturday What is Pow Wow? Pow Wow is a supplemental, action-packed training event for adult Cub Scout leaders, pack committee members, parents of Cub Scouts and just Cub Scout-interested persons. You’ll spend the day learning new ideas and concepts, and having hands-on experiences that will enhance your ability to deliver and support a fun-filled, exciting program to Cub Scout boys. When is Pow Wow? Pow Wow is Saturday, November 17, 2012. Doors open at 7:30 am. Walk-in registration and pre-registered pack pick-up starting at 8:00 am. Please, no early arrivals. Opening Ceremony begins at 8:40 am. The first training session starts promptly at 9:00 am. Some courses are 50 minutes long, some are 90 minutes long, some are 2 hours long and some are all morning or afternoon. BALOO is an all day course. We’ll stop along the trail for Lunch, which is provided at noon. Where is Pow Wow? We’re gathering at Annandale High School, 4700 Medford Drive, Annandale, Virginia. Here’s a map! Who Should Attend Pow Wow? All registered adult Cub Scout leaders, potential leaders, and interested parents should come to Pow Wow. That would include: Cubmasters and their assistants; Tiger den leaders, their assistants and parent partners; Wolf, Bear, and Webelos leaders and their assistants; Pack committee members and activity/event chairpersons; and anyone who wants to learn more about how to have a better Cub Scout program. Oh! And let’s not forget chartered organization representatives (COR), you are invited too. Training sessions are on relevant topics for every Cub Scout position and will help you become a better leader while making your Cub Scout program more fun for the boys ... and you too! Pow Wow is an all-day training event and the course sessions are intended for adults only. We do not have provisions or accommodations for children watching and day care. Thank you. Den Chief Training…What Is That? We are offering Den Chief training just for Boy Scouts who want to help Cub Scout leaders with their den or pack programs. The registration fee is the same for electronic and walk-in registration as it is for adult Cub Scout leaders. Den Chief training is a 3-hour training session. And enrollment is limited…so register early. Boy Scouts need to be in a complete Boy Scout uniform, bring the latest edition of the Den Chief handbook, and have paper and a pencil or pen with them to this training. This training supplements the on-line Den Chief training. Lunch and a beverage are included with Den Chief Training registration fee. |  Online registration is a must for this event. PRIOR TO REGISTERING....download and review the course listings and build a schedule for yourself. You'll "be prepared" to make a speedy online registration. To see if a class is full already click here. | How Much Does Pow Wow Cost? If you pre-register, using our online registration system by November 13, 2012, the cost is $35.00. After midnight on November 13, 2012, we stop electronic registration and you will have to register as a ‘walk-in” on the day of the event. The cost for walk-in registration on the day of the event is $45.00. All courses have limited enrollment and many fill very quickly. Courses that reach maximum enrollment will not be available to be selected when you electronically pre-register or at walk-in registration. So…register as soon as it is posted on this page! Remember online registration closes on November 13, 2012. Den Chief registration fee for Boy Scouts registering online is $35.00 until November 13, 2013. After November 13, 2012, the walk-in registration fee…if the session is not closed out…is $45.00. What’s Included for the Registration Fee? Registration fee includes a day of training (as many as six courses, a patch, a Pow Wow CD, lunch, and as much Scout fellowship and sprit, and Cub Scout networking as you can take-in during the day! What Should I Bring to Pow Wow? That’s easy…wear your Cub Scout uniform, if you have one. Bring a notepad, a pen, and a tote or book bag for the We will have a Pow Wow Trading Post along the trail. Bring extra money for you’re last minute purchases. What Is Being Offered at Pow Wow? Class sessions are limited in size and are filled on a first-come basis and fill quickly. Register early for best course choices. We strongly encourage everyone to pre-register so that we can best serve you and fit you into classes that interest you. Confused as to what to take? What Do I Need to Do to Pre-register for Pow Wow? Review and/or download the course descriptions and course schedules. Make your course selections on our online registration system. Have a major credit card handy when you pre-register. You will receive an on-screen confirmation after submitting the ‘Payment Page’ with your credit card information. Remember, if a course is filled and closed, you will not be able to select it even though it still appears on the course description and schedule pages. Don’t have a credit card? No problem. Just register online and on the payment page select the "Mail In" option. Then mail your check ALONG WITH A COPY OF YOUR REGISTRATION to: NCAC, BSA Attn: Pow Wow 2012 9190 Rockville Pike Rockville, Maryland 20814 ALL MAIL-IN REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 1, 2012 FOR YOUR COURSES TO BE RESERVED FOR YOU! What’s the Refund Policy? A 75% refund will be issued if written (fax or email) cancelation and request for refund is received at the Marriott Scout Service Center, Attention; Pow Wow Refund, 9190 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20814 by November 1, 2012. After November 1, you can transfer your registration to another adult who would like to attend in your place, but the fee is non-refundable. Please make sure you print a copy of your receipt at the time you complete the registration process. This is your evidence that you have made payment. After the event, we will be unable to provide you with a receipt.  Helpful Registration Hints from the Pow Wow Chairman - Although you can select your classes "on the fly", we strongly suggested that you review the 2012 Course Descriptions and Course Schedules before you make your selections. Be sure to have a back-up course just in case your first choice course selection is not available. If you do not see a course session on the registration form, the course is full and not available. Sorry! You can also check each class's status using the link at the top right of this page.
- IMPORTANT: When making class selections on the Class Registration page stay on that page and use the drop menu to make all your class selections before clicking the "Continue" button. Simply select each session number course is multi-session. If you select a multi-session course, these impacted session(s) will not be available. For example, as BALOO is an all-day course, if you register for BALOO, you will not be able to register for any other course session.
- If you are registering more than one person, you will see a "SIGN UP LIST" page; click the "Register for Activities" links so that you can select classes for them.
- You cannot change your class choices after you've completed registration. Please be sure to select all your classes before "Submitting" the Payment Page. After you submit the Payment Page, you will not be able to make any changes. Changes can be made only on the day of the event … and if the course is still available.
- If you have several members of your pack attending Pow Wow, select different courses for each member and share handouts and class notes.
