Theresa Garcia-Parks
Theresa Garcia-Parks was born in San Francisco. She met her husband Dan in Boulder, Colorado. Together, they enjoy traveling and camping all over North America.
Theresa has worked with her church’s children’s ministry for more than 25 years serving as a ministry leader. She enjoys working with her church’s Vacation Bible School and helps with a host of other activities.
She is very involved in various duties as a local volunteer, supporting local schools and PTA, and serving as Science Chair and Bookfair co-chair.
Theresa began her Scouting service when her son Joel joined Cub Scout Pack 492 as a Wolf, where she helped with a few events. The turning point came when her dear husband turned to her and said, “They (Pack 492) could really use your talents”. That led to her becoming an Assistant Cubmaster, Cubmaster, and Pack Committee Chair.
As Theresa became more involved with organizing pack events, a former Cubmaster kept saying that day camp could really use her abilities, which led to a position running the fishing and nature station. Of course this led to being announced as the next Camp Director after only a few short days on the job. Going into her third year as Director, Theresa enjoys being able to use her talents to get more youth outside and appreciating nature. Even though her son has since moved onto Boy Scouts, she still supports many Cub Scout activities on the unit and district level. She is always willing to lend a hand and fully supports the aims of scouting.
The Montgomery District, Boy Scouts of America, proudly presents the District Award of Merit to Theresa Garcia-Parks!
