Richard Manteuffel
Richard Manteuffel has been involved in Scouting since his seven years of youth experience in the program. Rick is now completing his eleventh year as a registered Leader in Scouting, and has served in leadership positions at the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and District levels. While serving as the Treasurer of both a Pack and Troop, Rick developed a per Scout cost analysis program, allowing the units to accurately predict amounts needed for dues and necessary fund raising to support the units’ program. Seeking to make the Scouting program available to as many youth as possible, Rick developed a slide show and power point presentation for recruiting at local schools for Join Scouting Nights. Each year his affiliated units’ activities were photo-documented, with a CD of the unit’s activities then becoming the annual holiday gift for all its’ members.
As a member of the Commissioner Staff when the prior six districts were combined into the great Montgomery District, Rick was tapped to serve as an Assistant District Commissioner, and shortly thereafter moved to the new Deputy District Commissioner position, unique to only three districts nationally. Service as a Deputy has a position description similar to that of a District Commissioner, specifically carrying with it unit service oversight responsibilities for close to a hundred Scouting units.
His quiet and gentlemanly demeanor lends creditability to his sincere leadership style and countless hours of dedicated service.
The Montgomery District, Boy Scouts of America, proudly presents the District Award of Merit to Richard Manteuffel!
