New Learning for Life Youth Protection Guidelines effective June 1, 2010. The new requirements state all Learning for Life registered Exploring volunteers are required to take Youth Protection Training prior to submitting an application for registration. Please distribute the guidelines to all of your curriculum based programs and Exploring volunteer leaders. Current Exploring leaders who have not taken the Youth Protection Training must take the training immediately. Posts participating in any summer programs are required to have taken the training at www.learningforlife.org. The software will automatically record your online completion of Youth Protection Training, however, you will have to establish an account by accessing myparticipation through Adult Leader Basic Training at www.learningforlife.org. Those that have taken the training and can verify completion may update their training record. However, if no verification exists, you must retake the training. Curriculum Based volunteers in Learning for Life who have taken Youth Protection Training as a part of teacher/leader development are not required to retake Youth Protection Training. However, if there was no Youth Protection training completed in staff development they are required to take a district/organization training course on Youth Protection Training or the training found on www.learningforlife.org. Please remember that the safety of our youth is the most important aspect of Learning for Life. Without safety there is no program, so please join me in helping to keep our most precious commodity, our youth, safe.
