Welcome to the NCAC Leadership Training Committee Site!

I would like to welcome you to our Leadership Training Committee Web Site. We at NCAC try to provide you

with a wide assortment of training opportunities in both the required courses and the supplemental courses. Whether you

are involved in the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, or Venturing Program, we have the training that you need to “Get Train, Then

Lead.” We on the Leadership Training Committee have a firm belief that Every Scout deserves a trained leader. Every leader deserves to be trained.”

This may sound idealistic, but we get trained, and remain current in our training, so that we can serve the youth in the Scouting program. Yes, techniques change over time. Scouting goes through continuous improvement. We need to stay current with our training. I am surprised by Scouters who were trained 10 – 20 years ago, who feel that they have no need of further training. This is not a philosophy held by industry, professions, or government. I certainly hope that my doctor stays current on the latest in the medical profession! So while basic training (Position Specific Training, Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills) do not expire, I encourage you to keep current on the latest techniques. Hey! Join the District Leadership Training Team. We could use your help, and you can stay current at the same time.

One of the keys to a successful Scouting experience for young people, second only to the selection of the right person for each responsibility, is trained volunteer leadership. Leadership training provides adult leaders with fundamental information about the aims and methods of the movement, as well as specifics about their particular roles in Scouting.

For this reason, the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) is committed to provide top quality training opportunities for leaders, parents and Scouts at the district and council levels. Through these efforts, the delivery of a better and quality Scouting program can be provided to our entire youth membership.

The training program of the National Capital Area Council and the Boy Scouts of America is designed to meet the needs of each volunteer leadership position. These training opportunities are varied and flexible enough to reach all leaders through group training experiences, personal coaching, self-study, or on-the-job training.

To get around the problem, a user can click on the first name and then TAB through the fields rather than clicking on them. The form still works.  Tabbing allows you to go through the errant image.

Updates and information for upcoming and on-going NCAC training events may be obtained in the NCAC newsletter The Scouter Digest, at your monthly district roundtable, or on this Web site.

Each of our districts conduct monthly leader's roundtables where elements of training are included. Consult the district pages for your district's dates and location.

This is to notify you that the Den Chief Training offered on the national Web site is DEN CHIEF FAST START Training, not the Den Chief training which is required for the award.  The boys should be encouraged to take the online training before they attend an in-person Den Chief Training.
