Important Internet Advancement Tips for May 2013

Two important Internet Advancement tips we would like to share with our unit leaders.

1.   If there has been no activity from the unit in 6 months, the account becomes blocked.  The unit will have to contact Margee Egan at NCAC then she has to contact national to remedy the situation.  Please do monthly updates, especially just before the end of the year. In addition, as summer approaches, it is important not to forget to go onto the site, even if you simply login and out.

If the Internet Advancement processor has Internet Explorer 10, the information can be entered, but the information will not be “submitted”.  Remedy for this is to go to the IE tool bar, click on Compatibility View Settings, and click “display all”.

Thank you for helping your units achieve “Journey to Excellence” status and all you do to benefit our youth!

Zekiah Honors Their 2013 Charles County Good Scouter

This year, Zekiah’s 12th Annual Good Scouter Awards Dinner honored entrepreneur and lifetime Charles County resident, Josh Joson.  As a local business owner, Mr. Joson, has been a generous samaritan, a proven civic leader, and truly represents the values of our Scout Oath & Law.

For our distinguished guest, they were entertained by our humorous guest speaker, 13 year old Andrew B. An international Lone Scout, now with LDS Troop 921 in White Plains, Maryland, Andrew earned his Eagle and all of the BSA merit badges!  Guests were intrigued with a slide show of his adventures through Italy to Africa and hiking Mt Kilimanjaro. In addition, they assembled the Zekiah All Scout – All Star Jazz band.  Five local music professionals, all of which are proud Eagle Scouts, came together to help the Boy Scout cause and featured our Zekiah scouting youth as their soloist.

With many thanks to the community leaders, volunteers and our 2013 Good Scouter Committee, our annual event raised additional funds needed to support our local program and reinforced the growth and impact of scouting in Charles County.

Roundtable

Hello Zekiah District Scout Leaders,

The next Zekiah Roundtable is Wednesday, June 12th, 2013 starting at 7:15 at the
Journey Of Faith Church in Waldorf.

The program starts at 7:30 with about 15 minutes of general District news
and information. This is followed by separate Cub and Boy Scout breakout
sessions that last no longer than 60 minutes.

What is Roundtable?

a.. A place for fun and fellowship.
b.. A place to share ideas and ask for help!
c.. Part of the commissioners' service to provide continuing education and
supplemental training for leaders and interested adults.
d.. Your first source for the most up-to-date information on events,
training opportunities, policy, etc.

Which Scout Leaders Attend Roundtable?

Roundtables are designed for ALL Leaders – from den leaders (tiger, wolf, bear and webelos)
through scoutmasters, Committee chairs, and members to future leaders, and any other
interested adult who wish to learn more about the program. In other words,
SCOUT ROUNDTABLE IS FOR EVERYONE!

We would like to see one representative from each Pack and Troop every month to bring
back the news/information. Can't make it on Wednesdays? Set up a monthly
rotation among all your Leaders
