Camp Snyder's COPE and Climbing Activities We'll offer Unit Climbing Facilitator training for adults again if interest develops. COPE is a truly Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience! You do not have to be an athlete to participate; the course is not beyond the reach of anyone of average physical condition who tries. Program: The National Capital Area Council offers a challenge course program at Camp William B. Snyder at two levels: Level 1: Initiative Games: includes warm-ups, initiative games (problem solving and decision-making), and a few low-course elements. This is intended for Boy Scouts who are not yet 13 years of age. Level 2: COPE: includes more of the above experience plus additional low and high course event elements (more complex problem solving and decision-making). The full COPE program was designed for older Boy Scouts (13 and up) , Varsity and Venturing age youth and their adult leaders. Each unit must show proficiency through experience and maturity of safely completing desired outcomes in the teamwork development exercises before tackling the more difficult COPE course events that are more physically and mentally challenging and require more group cooperation. Registration: Please contact the Program Department at 301-214-9156 or Complete the "Facilities Use Request Form" and return it to the Marriott Scout Service Center: National Capital Area Council, BSA, 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814 Registrations are taken on a First-Come First-Served basis, a maximum of 60 participants per weekend.
