Jamboree on the Air / Jamboree on the Internet

There are Scouting programs in over two hundred fifteen countries and not everyone can attend the World Jamboree so once a year Scouts and Scouters from around the globe come together by way of radio and computer.  October 20th & 21st marks the 55th anniversary of the “Jamboree on the Air” (JOTA) and the 16th anniversary of the“Jamboree on the Internet” (JOTI) and the Boy Scouts of America will be well represented.

The wide geographic area of the NCAC makes having a single event for the entire council problematic so the International Committee is looking to units and districts to think about hosting their own event during this time frame. We will post any such activities here so that Scouts who cannot participate locally could potentially join Scouts near by. And of course everyone with access to the Internet may join the JOTI on the world wide web.

AN NCAC JOTA TOOK PLACE AT CAMP SNYDER ON OCTOBER 20TH, 2012. FOR MORE DETAIL CLICK HERE.

The publicly accessible site for all things related to the event is at www.joti.org. There are portals in twenty languages and a detailed description for both JOTI and JOTA is at http://www.joti.org/en/index.html

Additional details, along with unit registration can be found at JOTAJOTI.Org. If you intend to host an event there more information here and if you have any questions you can contact Mike.Sierra@GooseCreekDistrict.Org

Parents should know that safeguards are in place for both radio and internet communications during this event to ensure that everyone participating is doing so in the spirit of the brotherhood of scouting and these safeguards are available for review here.

Attendees to the JOTA / JOTI event may earn credit toward certain advancement requirements and everyone who comes out will be issued a certificate of participation.
