NCAC ‘Outstanding' Awards Program
The National Capital Area Council's (NCAC) Venturing Committee ‘Outstanding' Awards Program annually recognizes outstanding Venturing and Sea Scouting units, leaders, activities, and sponsors for their contributions to the Venturing and Sea Scouting program.
. This year's awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 2006 NCAC Venturing Rendezvous on May 20, 2006.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from 2006 NCAC Venturing and Sea Scouts Outstanding Awards. The deadline for receipt of nominations to council is Friday, May 12, 2006. Nominations may be mailed or carried to Debbie Dean, NCAC, 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814.
NCAC Venturing and Sea Scouting ‘Outstanding' Awards Outstanding Crew or Ship: Awarded for a well-rounded program, having active and trained adult and youth officers, an exemplary recruiting and retention effort, and activities beyond the ordinary. Documentation of the previous year's programming and a copy of the unit's National Quality Unit application are required with the nomination form.
Outstanding Activity, Fundraiser, Newsletter or Website: Awarded for outstanding activity, fundraising program, newsletter or website, each area is a separate award. Examples and details should be provided as part of the nomination.
Outstanding Venturer or Sea Scout: Awarded to a Venturer or Sea Scout who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service to his/her crew or Sea Scout ship. Two letters of recommendation are required to accompany the nomination.
Outstanding Advisor or Skipper: Awarded to an adult leader who has provided exemplary leadership and service to his/her Venturing crew or Sea Scout ship. Advisors, associate advisors, skippers, and mates are eligible. Two letters of recommendation are required to accompany the nomination.
Outstanding Sponsor: Awarded to sponsors (chartering organizations) who have provided outstanding service and support beyond that normally expected to the Venturing or Sea Scouting program.
