Adult Awards and Recognition

Adult recognition is almost as important as recognizing the youth.  There are several web pages available for adults to learn more about awards and recognition and how to earn them for themselves or their peers.  The awards can be earned at the unit level or indirectly through positions at the District, Council, Regional, or National level. The information and links on this page will assist you in this process.

The National Council is developing a single web page location for the awards and recognitions available to adults participating in the Boy Scouts of America. The new Awards Central website is active….while it doesn’t have every award loaded yet, it is set-up using a standard format that is easy to navigate.  Each award has an: Overview, Who Can Earn This Award, How To Get the Award, Supply Item Description, Uniform Placement, and Supply/BIN Item Number. Click here to open the page in a new window or click on the following link to be redirected to the page: http://scouting.org/scoutsource/Awards_Central.aspx

Until the above page is mature, there are many awards that may be earned by adult leaders which result in being presented with an adult “knot” showing that accomplishment. These knots may be worn over the left pocket of the Boy Scout uniform. There are also many awards that an adult may be recognized for performance in and service to the BSA. Click the link below for the web page containing progress records, scorecards, nomination forms and information concerning the recognitions that may be earned, for your performance and for your service. Click here to open the page in a new window or click on the following link to be redirected to the page: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Media/forms.aspx

Another page on the scouting.org website contains many awards spanning the range of adult scouting.  Click here to open the page in a new window or click on the following link to be redirected to the page: http://scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/Adults/Awards.aspx

If you have questions concerning NCAC procedures on how to apply for or receive these awards and recognitions, please contact your District Advancement Chairman for more information.
