NCAC Scouting Challenge National Capital Area Council announces the NCAC Scouting Challenge! The Challenge begins January 1, 2012, and runs through Dec 31, 2015. It consists of four separate challenges: Challenge 1: I’m Prepared Challenge 2: I’m Eco-Friendly Challenge 3: I’m Fit Challenge 4: I’m Connected Each challenge can be tackled by a unit as a whole or by an individual Scout. Once a Challenge level is completed, turn it in to your unit Advancement Chairperson, who will, in turn, send it electronically, or hard-copy hand-deliver, to their District Advancement & Recognition Committee Chairperson for approval and recording/tracking. The District Advancement & Recognition Committee Chairperson will inform the Council Advancement & Recognition Committee of the award and keep accurate records as to who has earned which award within their district. The District Advancement & Recognition Committee Chairperson will send the Scout a certificate (provided by Council) stating the Scout is entitled to purchase a special patch (part of a larger five-piece patch) from the front desk at the Marriott Scout Service Center. The center patch is available for purchase without a certificate. Each of the other four patch segments can only be purchased upon presenting a certificate from district. The patch for each level of challenge will be outlined in a different color to highlight when a challenge was completed; hence, each of the four challenges may be completed at each level of Scouting. For example, Scout A earns Challenge 4 in 2012, Challenges 2 & 3 in 2013 and Challenge 1 in 2014. Scout A will have the right to purchase all four sections (Challenge 4 outlined in one color, Challenges 2&3 in another color, and Challenge 1 outlined in yet another color) and will receive a medal and ribbon from Council. Any Scout who earns the right to wear all four patches will also receive a special neck ribbon with medal, to be presented by the NCAC Program Impact department.
