Welcome to the NCAC's Jewish Committee on Scouting

The National Capital Area Council's (NCAC) Jewish Committee on Scouting (JCOS) offers a variety of activities to benefit Scouts of the Jewish faith. Since its founding, our committee has conducted Friday evening services at Goshen summer camp and a Merit Badge and Religious Awards Fair in January, organized Sabbath services during Boy Scout Week, conducted a Pinewood Derby for Cub Scouts, and arranged a Memorial Day Weekend Jewish Camporee. We also assist Scouts to earn recognition in the Maccabee, Aleph, Ner Tamid, and Etz Chaim religious awards program. Adult Scout leaders also have the opportunity to be recognized for their efforts.

The NCAC JCOS is part of the Northeast Region of the National Committee on Jewish Scouting, and participates in many activities alongside other Jewish troops in our region, and across the nation. The National Committee on Jewish Scouting is overseeing the Jewish contingent at the upcoming 2013 Jamboree, which will be Shomer Shabbos and observe Kashrut at the Summit. (For more information on Shomer Shabbos Scouting, click here.)

We encourage Jewish Scouts and adult volunteers to participate in our activities. Provided for your convenience is a comprehensive list of resources available for Jewish Scouting programs.  Stay tuned to this site for details on upcoming activities and programs. We welcome adult participation on our committee, which meets monthly.

Please send any updates or corrections to our Web content manager, Amy Johnson.
