2013 Scout Shabbat Has your Pack, Troop, or Crew considered conducting a Scout Shabbat? The Committee urges all Jewish congregations in the National Capital Area to recognize the value and contributions of Scouting by hosting a Scout Shabbat. Scout Shabbat is a national observance that offers an excellent opportunity for worshippers to honor Scouts and Scout leaders in their congregation for their achievements and their service to the community, as well as learn more about the value of Scouting as a youth program. The Committee is eager to provide any assistance a congregation may need to prepare a Scout Shabbat. If your congregation would like the Committee to participate, we would be happy to do so. Please let us know if you will be having a Scout Shabbat, and if you are opening it to other area Scouts. We would be delighted to share the information with the Jewish Scouts and Scout leaders of the National Capital area. Troops and religious organizations who conduct a Scout Shabbat and would like to commemorate that special day with the patch pictured can purchase them here.
Memorial Day Weekend Camporee - May 26-27, 2013 Don't miss the annual Camporee sponsored by the Committee this Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-27 (Sunday-Monday), which offers overnight camping for National Capital Area Jewish Scouts, Webelos, and Cub Scouts. This year we will be joined by Scouts and Ventures from ADAMS. Highlights will include a campfire, kite-fly, and COPE course. Clich here for more information.
