Cub Scouts "New Delivery Method" Program Highlights Listed below are highlights of the major changes and key concepts Cub Scout leaders will find in the new materials: Dens: - Detailed lesson plans in place of general outlines. (Using the plans in defined sequence provides the most benefit) - Advancement occurs in the den as a natural part of the planned program - Focus on having 2 den meetings, one other Den/Pack activity and one Pack meeting during the standard program months - Advancement as a group is emphasized to meet the desired goal for retention - Following the outlines will generally lead to Scouts advancing by the Blue and Gold Banquet in February - Uses format of Do, Home Assignment, Verify o Do Advancement at Den Meetings o Home Assignments at specific points o Verify assignments were completed and help when they aren’t done - Tiger Dens do not use the Search, Discover, Share format - Supplemental den meeting plans are available for having more than 2 meetings in a month and/or a year-round program - Templates for parent letter Pack - Monthly themes replaced by the 12 Core Values of Cub Scouting - Outlines provided for each Pack Leaders and Pack meeting in the year - Integrating Unit Leadership Enhancements into Pack Leaders Meeting Other areas: - Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training available on-line in June for Den Leaders and Cubmasters - Guidance for new leaders: o Before the first meeting with Scouts, obtain the Den and Pack Meetings Resource Guide and take both Fast Start and Youth Protection training o Within 2-3 months, obtain the Cub Scout Leader Book and Webelos Leader Guide (Webelos Leaders) along with completing the This is Scouting and Position-Specific Training - Examples in Cub Scout Leader Book tying the Core Values to daily activities - Continued emphasis on Character Connections - More information on ScoutParents program.
