District Committee Meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of most months 7:30-9:00.  See the District Calendar to confirm the schedule, date, and location of this meeting in any particular month.  Scouters, Chartering Organization Representatives, and any other interested adults are welcome to attend. Commissioner Staff Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of most months (3rd Thursday in November & December) at the Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church, 610 S. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, from 7:30 - 9:00.  The meeting is for all Commissioners and Staff, and is open to any interested Scouters, parents, or others. 

District Officer Meetings for Committee Vice Chairs and Professionals  are on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the hour prior to the District Committee meeting (6:30-7:30).

Annual District Adult Awards and Recognition Evening -- Mark your calendar for the 4th Tuesday in May each year for an evening where we recognize Scouters throughout the District for their great work !  The details of time, place, and food will be announced here and in Newsflash as soon as they become available. 

The Annual District Planning Conference is held on a Saturday morning and is an opportunity for all members of the District to participate with the District Committee in formulating priorities. strategies, and major event plans for the success and improvement of Scouting in Montgomery County.  Charter Organization Representatives and any interested community members are especially invited and encouraged to attend this annual planning meeting. WINTER WEATHER POLICY:  Montgomery District daytime and evening events are usually cancelled if Montgomery County Schools are closed for the day or are dismissed early due to weather. Note: this district event policy does NOT cover individual Scout unit meetings and events (Pack, Troop, Team, Ship, Crew) which are decided by their unit leaders. 

There may be some exceptions, such as when schools are closed but afternoon and evening weather conditions are fine, etc.  In these cases the person in charge of the event will make the decision in consultation with a District Executive.  Event leaders should make decisions as early as possible and notify all registered participants.  If you have a question about whether an event is being cancelled, please:

  1. Check your email in case a special Newsflash or email to registered participants is sent.
  2. See the home page of the District Website in case a notice is posted there.
  3. Contact the event leader (such as the contact person listed on the calendar event.)
  4. Contact another Scouter or District Executive who may know.
  5. And please always use your best judgment regarding your own safety.
