Occoquan District Committee Nominations
November 15, 2011
To: Occoquan District Scouters and Charter Organization Representatives
Dear Scouter,
Each year the Occoquan District has the responsibility of finding, nominating and electing new district leaders. A nominating committee is formed and charged with this responsibility. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of some important information and dates regarding the nominations and elections for our district leadership.
As the Nominating Committee Chair, I will be serving from June to December 2011. The committee will meet to discuss and evaluate the possible candidates. The committee will select an individual to fill the District Chair position. They will also form a list of individuals to serve in other district positions and will recommend these individuals to the District Chairman. These positions are: District Vice Chairs for Program, Finance, Membership, and Marketing/Communications and various committee staff. Additionally, the committee will be making a recommendation to the Council Executive Board for appointment and commissioning to fill the District Commissioner position.
The Committee will be accepting names for consideration until November 21st. Nominations cannot be accepted after this time. Nominations can be made to the committee through me as the Nominating Committee Chair. All nominations must be submitted in writing by either mail or email. You can reach me at 11974 Montreal Court, Woodbridge, VA 22192; attention Occoquan District Nominations; by telephone (571.274.5340) or email at RSackett01@Comcast.net.
Voting members must be present at the December 15th Annual Business Meeting to cast their vote. Nominations from the floor cannot be accepted. The meeting will be held at Dale City Masonic Lodge, 4001 Prince William Parkway, Suite 202, in Dale City at 7:30 pm. Those eligible to vote:
1. Charter organizational representatives registered and currently representing charter organizations within the district’s geographical boundaries;
2. Registered district Members-at-Large duly elected at the last annual district committee meeting or during the interim at a regular, duly called District Committee meeting;
3. Registered council Members-at-Large residing in the district.
Any representative who is not registered may register before the business meeting to obtain voting rights. To register, you must fill out an adult application and pay the registration fee. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.
Yours in Scouting,
Rich Sackett
