Sen. Ben Nelson (NE) has agreed to attend our farewell event on Capitol Hill! As you may know, Sen. Nelson is a Distinguished Eagle Scout who most recently served on Capitol Hill as a member of the Senate Agriculture, Armed Services, and Appropriations Committees. Before his time as Nebraska's Senator, he was Governor of Nebraska for two terms.

Sen. Nelson and Sen. Lugar (see original announcement below) have both agreed to attend our Gathering of Eagles event hosted by Rep. Pete Sessions on December 5, 5-7 PM.

Stay tuned for more updates. All Congressional Eagle Scouts will be invited and their attendance will be announced in the Talon Newsflash. Cost is only $30 and attendance is open to all Eagle Scouts (and those attending with Eagle family/friends).

Fellow Board Members and Brother Eagles,

2012 marks an incredible milestone for Eagle Scouts. This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Eagle Scout award being bestowed. In light of this, it seems fitting that we pay tribute to some of the notable Eagle Scouts in our very own backyard. Indiana Senator Richard Lugar (pictured right) will be soaring back home after a distinguished career in our nation’s highest legislative office and NCAC’s Gathering of Eagles has organized a reception with light refreshments, hosted by Distinguished Eagle Scout Texas Representative Pete Sessions (pictured below), to honor their service to this great nation. All Congressional Eagle Scouts will be invited. At the reception, we hope to be able to also say a fond farewell to Eagle Scouts Sen. Jeff Bingaman (NM) who is also finishing their last terms in Congress.

Please join me at this important event to celebrate our collective achievement of Scouting’s highest honor and to rejoice in the ‘good turn’ done by our fellow Eagles in their civic service to America.

John Mason
Chairman, Gathering of Eagles
