www.MyScouting.org) and the training courses outlined below, or have completed Youth Protection Training and a previous basic training course when it was current.

TRAINING AMENDMENT
Date: Effective date April 1, 2011

NCAC OFFICIAL DOCUMENT - Get Trained, Then Lead
Download it as a color flier here

Effective April 1, 2011, the following are the policies for all NCAC Scouters regarding required training and reflect a NCAC philosophy of “Get Trained, Then Lead”:

  1. Youth Protection Training: Current Youth Protection Training is required of all Scouters, prior to submitting their paperwork as a registered Scouter. This training, valid for 2 years, is a requirement for “membership” in Scouting regardless of “position.”
  2. Top Unit Leader Training: The National Required Training Pilot Project has been modified to reflect a December 31, 2011 goal for getting all currently registered Top Unit Leaders 100% fully trained [Cubmaster, Scoutmaster,
Team Coach, Venturing Advisor, or Sea Scout Skipper]. All future registered Top Unit Leaders preferably will be 100% fully trained PRIOR to registering in that position. If that cannot happen due to unforeseen circumstances, a Top Unit Leader should become 100% fully trained within three months of assuming that Top Unit Leader position.
  3. Direct Contact Leader Training: The National Required Training Pilot Project has eliminated the deadline for all Direct Contact Leaders to be 100% fully trained by December 31, 2011, leaving the decision to establish a deadline to the discretion of the pilot council. A Direct Contact Leader is defined as an Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster, Associate Venturing Crew Advisor, Assistant Varsity Team Coach, or Sea Scout Mate. The NCAC has elected to set a goal of December 31, 2012 for all currently registered Direct Contact Leaders to be 100% fully trained. All future registered Direct Contact Leaders preferably will be 100% fully trained PRIOR to registering in that position. If that cannot happen due to unforeseen circumstances, a Direct Contact Leader should become 100% fully trained within three months of assuming that Direct Contact Leader position.
  4. All Other Scouters are highly encouraged to become 100% fully trained, if not prior to assuming their position, then within three months of assuming that registered position.
