Attention: All adult Scout Leaders
Wood Badge is designed to meet the advanced leadership needs of all Scouters, particularly Cub Leaders, Scoutmasters and Assistants, Varsity Team Leaders, Venturing Crew Advisors, Committee Chairs, and other unit, district, council, and professional adults in leadership positions for the BSA. The Wood Badge course incorporates the traditions of over 80 years of Wood Badge, while adding the management and leadership training necessary to become a successful leader in the 21st Century.  Please take time to read our NCAC Wood Badge Flyer to understand the requirements, what take place, the Wood Badge training process, and who may attend.  Then complete the Registration Form to add your name to the next course roster.  Wood Badge training at NCAC has become increasingly popular and courses fill up quickly. 

Prerequisite Training for Wood Badge: 
Complete the basic training courses for your primary Scouting position.  Cub Leaders must have completed New Leader Essentials and the position specific training for their position.  Boy Scout and Varsity leaders must have completed New Leader Essentials, their position specific training as well as Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.  Venture advisors must complete New Leader Essentials, their position specific training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. Other unit, district, and council leaders must complete New Leader Essentials, plus their position specific training (e.g. Committee, Commissioners, District Chairs, or Council Chairs, ?)

Cost: Total cost is just $250.00, due at NCAC 45 days prior to the start of the course
Deposit : A $100.00 nonrefundable deposit will hold your spot on the course (only the first 48 participants will be accepted based upon the date the registration is received at the Marriott Scout Service Center) when submitted with the completed Registration Form.  Checks may be made payable to NCAC, BSA. 
Refunds: Thirty days prior to each course, the window for requesting any type of refund or transfer will close, except under certain circumstances (sickness, death in the family, or relocation). This request must be in writing and include back-up documentation to support the request.  Requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the start of each course and be mailed to the Marriott Scout Service Center, 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Attendance: Participants are expected to make Wood Badge their Scouting priority during this training. Participants must arrive before 8:00 AM on the morning each session begins and remain at the sessions until each ends, camping overnight. Participants must participate in every class and activity during each of the two sessions. In addition, participants must attend the two intersession patrol meetings that they will arrange during the first session. Upon completion of the practical experience that participant will apply the lessons learned in their Scouting position.  

Course Uniform:  All participants are required to wear a uniform. Scouters will need a complete field uniform for the program in which they are registered. This should include shirt, pants, or shorts with the appropriate socks and belt. Information on other clothing and equipment needs will be provided to each registered participant prior to the course.

Our NCAC courses do not require a pre-course orientation. All course information will be mailed to each participant about 20 days prior to the first session from the information received on the Registration form.
