Arrr! Mateys, Webelos Leaders, Parents and Scallywags!I’d like to welcome you to another summer of adventure on the high seas as we kick off this year’s theme: Pirates of Goshen at Camp Ross. Your boys will experience the time of their lives as they participate in their favorite activities like swimming, bb guns, archery and boating. We also have a few surprises in store and lots of opportunity to find Pirate’s Treasure. Please feel free to bring any items that will help you and your Webelos engage in our Pirates Theme. If you have any questions regarding what to bring to Camp, please see the leader’s guide here . If that doesn’t quench your need for information, feel free to send me an email at gary.carroll@scouting.org. Keep in mind that there are some items that are not a necessity but do make your camp stay more enjoyable. They include camp chairs, duralogs, hatchets, lanterns, coolers. Remember not to go too far overboard—you and your boys will be packing these items in and out of your campsites. A lot of you have been asking about doing some service around Camp. We are working diligently to ensure that opening day is a success. As we come across projects that would be ideal for a Pack to complete, we will add them to a list to be posted on this site.
There have been inquiries about special dietary needs. Before you arrive in Camp, your Pack’s Camp Coordinator will receive a call asking for the number of adults (Male and Female) and the number of Webelos coming. They will then ask if there are any special dietary needs such as vegetarians and if there are any major food allergies that we should be made aware. This is shaping up to be a great summer. The team at Camp Ross is amazing and excited to be working with you and your Webelos. See you in a few weeks!Yours in Scouting, | Captain Gary (Arrrr!) Scourge of Lake Merriweather |

Camp Ross is a Webelos Scout resident camp located on 450-acre Lake Merriweather. Thomas Jefferson once called this area the "Garden of Eden of the United States." Campers at Camp Ross eat breakfast lunch and dinner in our dining hall. Everyone has a blast during the exciting program at each meal. Youth sleep in two-person platform tents with cots. Our Camp is accredited annually by the BSA and meets State of Virginia mandates. Scouts are encouraged to attend with their Pack. Camp Ross features an activity-oriented program based on fun and adventure. Activity badges such as forester, outdoorsman, bbs, archery, readyman, and aquanaut are earned naturally as part of the program. Webelos Scouts have the opportunity to participate in programs such as Archery, the BB gun range, Scoutcraft, Nature, Handicraft, Swimming, and Boating. Hikes, fishing, flag ceremonies, volleyball, geocaching, soccer, rock throwing, Frisbee golf and cooking are extra activities designed to keep all campers excited and enthusiastic. In addition, every week begins and ends with a meaningful and fantastically fun Campfire! Webelos Scouts can also earn the coveted Webelos Camp Diamond "W" Award. Requirements include: Hike to another base camp OR hike two miles of Goshen Trails. Learn the Outdoor Code. Devote one hour to Service Projects around camp. Average score of 28 out of 30 on site inspections OR show steady improvement.
Who May Attend: All registered youth who have graduated from the 3rd or 4th grades may attend. For more information, please contact Gary Carroll, Camp Director at gary.carroll@scouting.org.
