About Our Web Site The NCAC Venturing web pages provide a overview of the Venturing and Sea Scouting programs sponsored by the Council and specific information about current events and news. The most frequently updated webpages provide current information about Venturing and Sea Scouting including the News, Resources, Forms, and Calendar web pages with links to specific event information, registration forms, and other useful on-line resources supporting the Venturing programs of your Crews, Ships, and Districts. There are also several pages that provide general information about the various NCAC programs and leadership activities including Adventures, Calendar, Training, Awards, Venturing Committee, Sea Scout Wardroom, Resources and Recruiting Materials pages.
Venturing Age/Grade Eligibility Change
The National Executive Board recently approved a resolution to change the eligibility requirements for Venturing to ensure consistency among Venturing, high-adventure bases, and other core programs. The current age and grade eligibility requirement for participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and completion of the eighth grade. Effective May 1, 2010, the minimum age requirement will be changed to 14 years of age, or 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade. The maximum age for participation remains under 21 years of age. In support of this change, is a list of frequently asked questions posted here. This includes questions about Sea Scouts, advancement, changes to literature and forms, camp eligibility and Boy Scout numbers.
The Top Leader of each Unit is required to be completely trained by January 1st 2011. A direct contact Scout leader is considered fully trained and entitled to wear the Trained leader emblem when he or she has completed the following training courses and the specific training for the position.
Venturing Crew (Adult): Venturing Youth Protection Training, Venturing Fast Start, This is Scouting, and Venturing Leader Specific Training (and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) for crews that have an outdoor program
Sea Scout (Adult): Venturing Youth Protection Training, This is Scouting, Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training (SSALBT).
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS). Effective 1 January 2010, Advisors of Venturing crews that have outdoor programs must take IOLS to be basic trained. (IOLS is not required for crew committee members to be basic trained.) If one of these leaders can demonstrate the outdoor skills to a member of the training team, it is not necessary that they attend a formal training course. See Training FAQ. NCAC Teen Programs Committee will meet September 16, 2010 from 7:30 -9 PM at the Council Service Center in Bethesda, MD. All Venturing, Exploring, Sea Scouts adults and youth are encouraged to attend. We will be working on many program items that effect High School Aged youth in our Council. We will also be reconvening the Teen Youth Council. Anyone with questions are asked to contact Jennifer Gayle, Staff Advisor.

PROGRAM CHANGES AND NOTICES NEW MEDICAL FORM for 2009 - (334605) This new form replaces both of the older medical forms. It will be required after January 1, 2010. For 2009, this form as well as the older Class 1&2 and Class 3 Medical forms are all approved for use by the National Office. For convenience, anyone having a physical this year for team sports, travel, etc. should use the new form. This is the only form that will be accepted for the National Scout Jamboree.  Click here for more information on the new Annual Health and Medical Record LOCAL TOUR PERMIT FOR TRIPS AND CAMPS UNDER 500 MILES Effective for tours on January 1, 2009, at least one adult must have completed Planning and Preparing for Hazardous Weather training. Hazardous Weather training is available online. If tour includes Wilderness or backcountry (must carry Wilderness Use Policy and follow principles of Leave No Trace Camping) Read new form for possibly other changes. and NCAC FAQ.
