“Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader” - BP

Powhatan District training information for Powhatan Adult Leaders:
Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing Leaders

Training is a key aspect of your adult responsibilities.  Every Scout deserves adult leaders who are fully trained in their responsibilities.  The Boy Scouts of America provides training opportunities for every position to ensure that every Scout gets the best the Scouting program has to offer.

Each leader should within 90 days of registration complete the appropriate program Fast Start and Youth Protection Training web-based training before they are in contact with the Scouts. Each leader should continue on with “This Is Scouting” the web-based training program that recently replaced This Is Scouting. These training modules help to prepare the new leader as they move on to the leadership specific training to their volunteer position. To determine when the next sessions of these trainings are offered, click on the training menu key on the left.

In addition to the basic training required of all Scout Leaders, Scout Leader Training helps every leaders deliver a better Scouting program that helps to retain the interest and excitement of the Scout program. Experience tells us that Scouts who have TRAINED adult leaders are more likely to stay with the Boy Scout program.

Have a question about which training you should take? Don't wait until your next Unit meeting or the next Roundtable send an email to the District Training Chair, George Sheflett, and he will help to put you on the correct training path.
