Visiting the National Scout Jamboree and/or the Greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area in 2010?
If the answer is YES, then consider staying at beautiful Camp William B. Snyder! Located in northern Virginia just outside Washington, DC and only 75 miles from Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, Camp Snyder could not be more perfectly situated to serve as your base of operations for your Troop, Crew or Council Contingent. Camp Snyder, one of the Boy Scouts of America’s premier camps, opened in 2006 with spectacular, state of the art facilities and is prepared to meet your needs. Camp Snyder has reserved all of its facilities from July 19 through August 12, 2010 just for units who wish to visit the National Jamboree and/or the vast array of attractions in the surrounding area. We have developed a variety of ways to accommodate your unit or group in terms of lodging, meals, programs and personalized travel services. For more specifics click here. Celebrate 100 years of Scouting in the United States and explore more than 300 years of American history when you plan your adventure to Washington, DC and the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. It will be a special year for the Jamboree and extending your stay to tour the historic sites will make the trip even more memorable for the Scouts in your contingents! Before, during or after the Jamboree you can use Camp William B. Snyder as your home base to explore attractions in and around the greater metro Washington, DC area and America’s historic corridor. Located 40 miles west of Washington, DC in the middle of Civil War battlefields and 75 miles from the National Scout Jamboree site at Fort AP Hill, Camp W.B. Snyder is a convenient place to stay and play.
Whether you want to use your own gear and camp on one of our field sites or use an existing campsite with platform tents, we can accommodate your group. Meals will be available in our air conditioned, 500 person dining hall. Meals will be served a la "box variety" so that you can easily take them with you while touring. The olympic sized swimming pool will be open for your group to cool off after a long day of touring! Lodging Opportunities: Use one of the Troop Cabins - Full kitchen and Air Conditioned! - Campout at one of our Troop Campsites using our platformed wall tents
