Eagle Project collects food donations at local shopping center.

The Patriot District seeks to bring the opportunities of Scouting to an increasingly diverse group of the youth in our community and expand our service to our existing units.  For example, we broadened our recruiting efforts this year by raising the visibility of Scouting at many locations within the district, e.g., libraries, pools, shopping and community centers, Labor Day picnics and the Burke Centre Festival.  We have added to those who present at Join Scouting Night events and inaugurated a parallel effort to recruit new Boy Scouts.  Throughout the year we have also met on several occasions with diverse religious congregations and cultural centers in our community to acquaint their members with the Boy Scouts, answer questions, and to invite them to sponsor new units for their youth members.  This initiative has not yet achieved the success we hope for, yet we remain confident of the need for activities for youth members across all sectors of our community and our eventual success in attaining shared goals.

Complementing this vigorous effort by our Membership committee, new committee members have helped with aspects of our Venturing program.  As we expand service to the district's youth and units, we want to make sure that no task or burden falls too heavily on any of our Scouter volunteers.  For this reason, we seek yet additional members to help in the areas of Finance, Program, and Venturing.  We also seek experienced Scouters to serve as Unit Commissioners.  Our openings vary in time duration, flexibility, and type of service.  For specifics, please call or contact any of the district key 3 or the committee vice chairs.
