Family Involvement in Cub Scouting and the Scout Parent Coordinator Role: Cub Scouting is a family-centered program, but what does that really mean? At all ranks, advancement achievements include requirements to be met not in the den or pack but at home. Parent participation and encouragement are vital to an effective Cub Scout program and for scout retention and advancement. We will cover the nature and extent of family participation, as well as the Scout Parent Coordinator’s role in encouraging families to become involved in dens and packs, while recognizing limitations and constraints.
