Recruiting Ideas

Research shows that most boys do not join scouting because they were not aware they were ever invited to join. Frequently adults in uniform are stopped by parents to ask about scouting because they were unaware that scouting was available in the area. Unless you ask, you’ll never know if a boy is interested in joining scouting.

Enclosed in these guides are a number of techniques that can be used to invite boys and their families to join your pack or troop. Some of these are ideas used successfully by other troops. Others are newer ideas that you may elect to try.

    1.  Call number for volunteers with BeAScout issues:  972-580-2267 or BeAScout.org

    2.  If you make changes (like where the unit meets) it can take some time for the pin to reset

    3.  Some problems related to pin placement are actually related to issues with Goggle maps and not National, but they still may be able to help.

    4.  Double check longitude and latitude- some people are accidentally changing and the system is placing their pin thousands of miles away.  Try deleting both numbers, and saving unit.  The longitude and latitude will default automatically to the address typed in.
