For numerous years, the National Capital Area Council has offered Eagle Scouts the opportunity to be mentored by a professional in an industry or career field that they are potentially interested in pursuing. However, this event has been enhanced and has now invited the following youth members:

• Boy Scout EAGLE SCOUTS
• Sea Scout QUARTERMASTERS
     (learn about this award)
• Venturing SILVER AWARD RECIPIENTS
     (learn about this award)
  • All youth invited earned their awards from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 inclusive.
  • These youth have until May 4, 2012 to RSVP their intentions to participate.

Dear Eagle Scouts, Quartermasters, and Venturing Silver Award Recipient

Your Scouting journey has led you to earn the coveted Eagle, Quartermaster and Silver Awards. Your leadership skills and solid character set you apart from your peers. Your future is bright and the opportunities that lie before you are endless. National Capital Area Council, BSA now invites you to continue your personal and professional development journey by participating in its annual Excellence in Youth Leadership Evening. Tell us what career fields or industries you are interested in and we will connect you with a professional mentor in one of those career fields. Mentors will be able to offer you valuable insights into the profession and may be able to provide an on-site "job shadow" experience.

You are also invited to attend the Council’s Excellence in Youth Leadership Evening at Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in Virginia. (deadline to register for a mentor is May 4, 2012) Ever wondered what a scientist really does all day? A computer programmer? A marketing director? An Air Force pilot? An FBI agent? Starting this year the Council invites not just Eagle Scouts, but Quartermasters and Silver Award recipients to continue their personal and professional development journey by participating in its Centennial Excellence in Youth Leadership Evening. Those invited were asked to tell us their top career field choices and we connect them with a professional mentor - often an Eagle Scout - in one of those career fields. The mentor offers valuable insights into the profession and often is able to provide an on-site "job shadow" experience.

If your did not receive the invitation but did earn one of these awards from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 contact Peggy Green.

• *Youth must have made Eagle, Silver Award, or Quartermaster between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011 and must not have participated in a previous Eagle Career Day.
  Deadline to register for a mentor is May 4, 2012.
