Click here for Nomination Form The National Silver Beaver Award is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. As a movement whose leadership is overwhelmingly volunteer, the Boy Scouts of America recognize the need to acknowledge the invaluable services that men and women render to youth. Of the hundreds of awards that the BSA presents each year to those on the local council, regional, and national levels, the Silver Buffalo, Silver Antelope, Silver Beaver, and Silver World awards are the most prestigious. Established in 1931, the Silver Beaver Award is presented for distinguished service to young people within a BSA local council. A recipient must be a registered adult volunteer member of the BSA. Within the National Capital Area Council, the Silver Beaver Award is bestowed at the Annual Council Business Meeting (normally held in June). Completed Nomination forms must be received by the Silver Beaver Nomination Committee by November 15th, 2012.
