Miscellaneous: American Legion Post 184 Veterans Remembrance Patch The Veterans Remembrance Patch and Guidebook were developed for American Legion Post 184 as an Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project by Ryan McLeod, Boy Scout Troop 1570, Herndon, Virginia, under the guidance of Roger Claff, Troop Life to Eagle Adviser. It is important for all of us to remember our veterans who sacrificed their lives so we can live in freedom. It is our duty as citizens to learn of their sacrifices and to understand that freedom comes with high cost. I hope this patch and guidebook will encourage us to visit veterans memorials and take part in events that pay tribute to our veterans, honor their service, and make us more aware of the high price and true value of our liberty. Ryan McLeod, January 2006 The American Legion Post 184 Veterans Remembrance Patch can be earned by anyone who completes the requirements and applies for the patch. Herndon residents and residents of nearby communities are to: 1. Visit any 12 of the locations in the Washington, DC Memorials and Monuments section of the guidebook and answer the questions for those locations; 2. Visit both of the locations in the Herndon Memorials section of the guidebook and answer the questions for those locations; and, 3. Do any 5 of the activities listed in the American Legion Post 184 Activities section of the guidebook. Non-residents and visitors to the National Capital Area may earn the patch by meeting the requirements in the Washington, DC Memorials and Monuments section alone. To work on the patch, first obtain the patch guidebook. The patch guidebook may be obtained at a $2 cost from American Legion Post 184 in Herndon. A form for ordering the guidebook is attached.
