Servant Leadership Award About The Award: The "Servant Leadership Award” is an award to honor those youth who give exemplary service to the Order of the Arrow, Scouting, and their community over an extended period of time. Each year members of the Order of the Arrow and the scouting community will be asked to nominate youth, who by their leadership and service, exemplify the ideals of the Order and are role models for other Arrowmen and Scouts. A lodge-level selection committee will consider all approved nominations for the award and recommend those most deserving to the Lodge Executive Committee. While there is no limit to how many awards may be given in any given year, the committee may decide that the award will not be presented that year, or may recommend multiple youth. If an honoree is selected then Amangamek-Wipit will contribute a base sum of $1,000 dollars towards a James E. West Fellowship Award in the name of each honoree, and Arrowmen, Scouters and people from the community may also contribute to the fund on the honoree’s behalf. The honoree will receive a “Servant Leadership” plaque, The James E, West Fellowship Award certificate, lapel pin, an embroidered square for his uniform, and the council will place a memorial brick in the courtyard of the Marriott Scout Service Center. Requirements: § Honoree must be at least 18 years of age, but not yet 21 at the time the selection committee meets to consider nominees. § Minimum three years membership/service to the lodge and/or chapter. § At least a Brotherhood Member in good standing. § Nominees shall have a record of exemplary service to the Order of the Arrow, the Boy Scouts of America, and their Community (i.e... school, church, etc.). § Members of the Committee will not be eligible for consideration that year. § The Lodge Key 3 will screen all nominations before they are reviewed by the selection committee. Other Information: § Normally only one award will be given each year; however, upon the recommendation of the selection committee, the Lodge Executive Committee may make multiple awards. § The award should be presented at the Lodge Banquet. § The Selection Committee will normally meet at the Lodge Fellowship. § The Lodge Chief will appoint the Committee Chairman along with two or three other youth members representative of lodge membership. The Lodge Advisor will appoint the Committee Adviser.
