Varsity Scouting Varsity Scouting is a program for young men who are at least 14 years of age but not yet 18. It provides options for young men who are looking for rugged high adventure or challenging sporting activities and still want to be a part of a Scouting program that offers the advancement opportunities and values of the Boy Scouts of America. Varsity Scouting Adult Leaders are called Team Coaches and must complete the following training courses: Varsity Leader Fast Start Varsity Scout Leader Specific Training The Varsity Scout Leader Specific Training consists of three sessions, What is Varsity Scouting, Varsity Scout Program and Varsity Scouting and the Outdoor Program. Sessions flow one to the other and are conducted in sequence. Youth Protection The courses summarize the purposes and methods of Varsity Scouting. The characteristics of young men, five program area of emphasis and how a Varsity Scout Team is organized. The outdoor portion of the training provides an opportunity for participants to practice skills of leadership for Varsity Scouting, Scoutcraft, health and safety and how to instill Scouting's values in its youth members.
